A North American native, Deschampsia cespitosa 'Bronzeschleier' has clumps of narrow, deep green leaves and slender, arching stems that bear a prodigious display of plumes. When back-lit by the sun the plumes create a translucent bronze-hued veil above the foliage. As with most ornamental grasses the plumes provide ever changing interest in the garden. Bronzeschleier's flowers slowly fade to buff over the blooming season, and the veil becomes airier and more transparent. The grass can grow to 3.3 ft tall from May to October. Excellent for mixing with perennials, and planting in large drifts. Of interest May through October.
