Crimson Passion Cherry is a beautiful fruit producing bush rather than the usual cherry tree. The plant growth habit of 'Crimson Passion' is semi-upright whereas 'Carmine Jewel' features a more spreading habit.

It produces a large sweet fruit (6 grams) with brown red skin and a Brix of 22°. This is the variety offering the sweetest and one of the biggest fruit of all the hardy dwarf sour cherry trees developed by the University of Saskatchewan (SK). SK cultivars offer sweeter and bigger fruits than the traditional hardy cherry trees 'Evans' and 'Montmorency'.

However 'Crimson Passion' growth isn't as vigorous as 'Carmine Jewel' so its yield is lower. Its stone (seed) is relatively easy to remove. It will begin making fruits after three years. Its large fruit, high sugar content and low acidity makes this cultivar ideal for eating fresh. Fruits can also be used for baking, making jelly and juice.

This easy to grow tree is self-fertile and highly ornamental.
